Dr Etienne Mauffret

Biography

Dr Etienne Mauffret is an Associate Professor, Head of the MSc in Data Engineering at aivancity, and a Researcher at aivancity. An expert in distributed systems, distributed algorithms and large-scale data management systems, he completed his PhD thesis entitled “Replica Management in a Large-Scale Data Management Service with a Variable Consistency Protocol” at the LISTIC laboratory at Polytech’ Annecy-ChambĂ©ry. This thesis enabled him to deepen his knowledge of large-scale data management systems, focusing on optimising data placement to improve various metrics such as user latency and energy consumption.

Following his PhD, Dr Mauffret joined the LIP at the ENS Lyon, where he worked for two years as a research assistant (ATER) and subsequently as a research engineer. He helped set up the SkyData project, which aims to develop an autonomous, intelligent and self-managing data system. This project is still ongoing and is being carried out in conjunction with another research project exploring the relationship between the constraints of a distributed system and the quality of distributed learning within that system.
