How can we provide AI skills right now to those who need them most?

The demand for AI skills is enormous (more than 7,500 specialists in France between 2020 and 2023, according to the latest OPIIEC report). The few skills that are available are snapped up by large companies that can attract them with attractive salaries and comfortable working environments.

Even though the range of training courses on offer is growing exponentially, it will take several years to meet demand, particularly for small businesses or organisations that cannot afford to invest.

This creates a market imbalance that favours the most digitally advanced companies, which are able to take full advantage of the competitive edge offered by AI, thereby consolidating their lead.

How can this gap be narrowed? This is the principle behind the AI Clinic.

The AI Clinic: a civic service for students and businesses

Just as in legal clinics, where students, supervised by lecturers, carry out ‘pro bono’ legal work in the public interest, the AI Clinic adopts the same model for organisations. The benefits are twofold.

  • It enables students to learn data science whilst putting it into practice. The AI Clinic involves 6 to 9 hours of work per week, and the projects they work on form an integral part of their course.
  • To provide easy and free access to all organisations that need artificial intelligence to achieve their ambitions: small and medium-sized enterprises, associations and non-profit organisations.

Project: Analysis and visualisation of attendance figures and audience expectations for activity programmes

Project objectives

  • To identify the expectations of participants and offer them activity programmes.
  • To assess the impact of the initiative on users’ wellbeing and health.

Testimonial from Benjamin Raspail, CEO of HappyVisio

Ecole unique en France

The project involved working with students from the school to analyse the data collected on our website in order to better understand our users’ behaviour, preferences and profiles. The work was supervised by a lecturer from the school. This project lasted three months, during which the students produced several studies and analyses using Power BI software. We were thoroughly satisfied with this collaboration and with the commitment shown by the students and their lecturer, which enabled us to work on improving the quality of our products and better targeting our end users.
