Masterâs degree, Ministry-approved qualification, RNCP Level 7: understanding the accreditations that really matter â in France and internationally â to choose a reputable AI course.
aivancity awards a five-year post-baccalaureate qualification approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, RNCP Level 7, conferring a Masterâs degree. This combination is unique for a programme entirely dedicated to artificial intelligence and data science. aivancity owns all its RNCP qualifications â designed specifically for its courses, not borrowed from a third-party certifying body.
In France, several accreditation schemes coexist for higher education programmes. It is important to understand what each one actually entails â and what it does not guarantee.
National academic accreditation awarded by the Ministry. Equivalent to the Masterâs level of the European LMD system. Immediately recognised in France and internationally.
A seal of academic quality granted by the Ministry. Does not automatically confer the Masterâs degree, but may be associated with it. Renewable following assessment (1 to 6 years).
Professional recognition by France CompĂ©tences. Essential for work-study programmes, the CPF and OPCOs. Check: does the school own the qualification or does it âleaseâ it?
Reserved for the title of graduate engineer. Automatically confers a Masterâs degree. A historically French model, highly recognised in France but less widely recognised abroad.
The engineering degree and the Masterâs degree offer the same academic recognition at five-year post-A-level within the European LMD system. The difference lies elsewhere.
In most countries â Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe â the standard academic qualification at five-year post-A-level is the âMasterâsâ. The Masterâs degree awarded by aivancity is immediately recognised by international recruiters, partner universities and PhD programmes abroad â where the validity of a âFrench engineering degreeâ often requires further explanation.
Not all institutions are treated equally by the RNCP. There are two very different scenarios:
The school has developed, registered and had its qualification certified by France Compétences. It has complete control over the content, assessment and updating of the programme. This is the case for aivancity, which owns all its RNCP qualifications, designed to be fully aligned with its AI courses.
The school signs an agreement with a certifying body to use its qualification. It must adhere to an external framework, which limits the flexibility to adapt the programme. Risk: a generic RNCP qualification (e.g. âProject Managerâ) being used for a specialised AI training course, without the qualification truly corresponding to the intended profession.
Each RNCP qualification has an official description specifying the targeted skills. Check that the qualification does indeed correspond to the advertised specialisation â a generic qualification may be recognised without being relevant to AI recruiters.
Model design, algorithms, distributed systems, MLOps, deployment.
Organisational transformation, AI project management, economic impact, ROI, strategy.
Societal impact, algorithmic bias, acceptability, regulation, AI Act compliance.
AI is a truly global field. Skills and qualifications must be too.
It is precisely at this intersection of technology, management and the humanities that aivancity has built its Grande Ăcole Programme. Whether through full-time, work-study or part-time study in Paris-Villejuif and Nice CĂŽte dâAzur, students acquire the key skills to design, manage and deploy high-impact AI solutions â with a qualification recognised in France and internationally.
| Type of accreditation | What it guarantees | International recognition | To be verified |
|---|---|---|---|
| Masterâs degree â key | Academic equivalence to a Masterâs degree (LMD system) | â Universal â recognised everywhere | Approved qualification and degree awarded |
| Diploma approved by the Ministry | Academic quality assured | đ¶ Varies depending on the associated degree | Approval alone â Masterâs degree |
| RNCP Level 7 | Vocational level, access to work-study schemes / CPF | â Not widely recognised outside France | Does the school own the qualification? AI specialism? |
| CTI accreditation | Graduate engineer qualification + automatic Masterâs degree | đ¶ Very strong in France, specific model abroad | Accredited AI school and programme |

What is the difference between a recognised qualification and a qualification leading to a Masterâs degree?
Ministry accreditation attests to the academic quality of a course, but does not automatically confer a Masterâs degree. It is this degree that guarantees national and international academic equivalence with a university Masterâs degree. It is therefore important to check that the qualification is approved by the Ministry and also confers the Masterâs degree â as is the case with aivancityâs Grande Ăcole Programme.
Why is a Masterâs degree more widely recognised internationally than an engineering degree?
The CTI-accredited engineering degree is a historically French speciality. In most countries â Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe â the benchmark qualification at five-year post-A-level is the âMasterâsâ. The Masterâs degree fits directly into the universal LMD system, making it immediately recognisable to recruiters, universities and PhD programmes abroad.
What is a âproprietaryâ RNCP qualification and why is it important?
Some institutions award their own RNCP qualification (registered and certified by them with France CompĂ©tences), whilst others âlicenseâ a qualification from a third-party certifying body through an agreement. A proprietary qualification guarantees that the content is designed to match the course and the intended career path. A generic, âleasedâ qualification may be officially recognised but may not be relevant to recruiters specialising in AI. aivancity owns all of its RNCP qualifications.
Why does AI require hybrid training rather than just technical training?
AI is a cross-disciplinary field that simultaneously encompasses technology (algorithms, models, systems), management (organisational transformation, ROI, project management) and the social sciences (ethics, bias, regulation). Purely technical courses produce good technicians; hybrid courses produce professionals capable of creating value in real-world and international contexts.
What careers are available after a recognised five-year post-A-level degree in AI?
Machine learning engineer, data scientist, AI engineer, data engineer, AI consultant, AI product manager, generative AI expert, digital transformation manager, AI project manager â these are all roles where a combination of technical, business and ethical skills is now expected by recruiters in France and internationally.
