After obtaining his degree in computer engineering in 2009 and his masterâs degree in electrical engineering in 2011, both from the Universidade Federal do ParĂĄ (Brazil), Thiago Abreu was awarded a PhD in Computer Science from the UniversitĂ© Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (UCBL1) in 2015, specialising in the modelling and performance evaluation of multi-hop wireless networks.
Whilst undertaking his PhD, he worked as a research engineer at the Computer Science Laboratory of the University of Paris 6, where he continued his research into cellular networks. He then undertook a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at IRISA in Rennes, focusing on the performance evaluation of information-centred networks.
In September 2016, he became an associate professor at the University of Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC), where he teaches at the Public School of Health and Digital Engineering (EPISEN). His research focuses on performance evaluation and system modelling in the field of wireless sensor networks, applied to e-health systems and body-space networks.
He is now focusing on the use of machine learning techniques applied to e-health and pollution monitoring in smart cities. His work is carried out at the Images, Signals and Intelligent Systems Laboratory (LiSSi).
