The Learning Trip

Understanding German industry
from the inside

An academic cooperation programme combining credit-bearing courses, large-scale industrial visits and cultural immersion, in partnership with a German university.

Every year, aivancity organises this Learning Trip in partnership with the Rhein-Neckar Graduate School (GSRN) and the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences (HWG), as part of the dual-degree programme MSc in Data Engineering & Cloud Computing.

Unlike a standard study trip, this programme includes modules for which credits are awarded and which are assessed : Change Management, risk management and supply chain management (SCRM/FMEA), taught directly by lecturers from the German academic partner.

In addition, there are large-scale industrial visits, an in-depth exploration of the German financial ecosystem, and an introduction to European EdTech innovation. All of this is delivered in a format that combines academic rigour with cultural immersion.

Why Germany?

What the DACH ecosystem
exemplifies industry and rigour

Germany is not merely an economic partner of France. It is an industrial and academic model with its own codes, which can only be understood by experiencing them first-hand.

01
Industrial scale is changing perceptions
Visiting an industrial site covering several square kilometres transforms one’s theoretical understanding of the supply chain and large-scale operations.
02
Change management is a discipline, not a concept
Taught and assessed as a module in its own right, organisational change management plays a central role in German managerial culture.
03
Risk management shapes industrial thinking
Methods such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) are deeply ingrained in German engineering and supply chain management culture.
04
EdTech is a fully-fledged investment sector
The DACH ecosystem invests in educational innovation and vocational training with the same level of commitment as it does in heavy industry.
05
The university-industry link is structural
Universities, graduate schools and large companies maintain a permanent network, not just during one-off events.
06
Intercultural teamwork is a skill that is assessed
Working with German students and teachers on graded case studies develops international collaboration skills that can be put to immediate use in the workplace.
